James Giles, a family owned
As your funeral directors, we are here to help and advise in whatever way we can. We are dedicated professionals who provide a personal service to you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is a rare privilege to be a funeral director, to stand in a sensitive position at a crucial time in the midst of your family, knowing the quality of our service and reputation will help you through this most difficult time in your life.
It is not our policy to impose or apply undue pressure on you or your family. It is important for many people to reflect the personality and character of the deceased within the arrangements and this often requires time and thought.
Coffins & Caskets
At James Giles and Sons we can find you any type of coffin or casket that you require. Here you will find a small selection of the coffins, caskets and urns that we offer. If you require something that you don’t see, please call us to discuss your specific requirements. We can provide a huge selection of bespoke coffins and many variations of wicker/willow coffins
We also offer a selection of green funerals which are either meadow or woodland burials. Complemented by the use of a coffin made from biodegradable materials i.e. wicker or cardboard. The green funeral option continues to grow in popularity and there are now many woodland burial sites all over the country. The environment of green burial grounds is kept as wild and as natural as possible. Memorials and headstones are generally not permitted, but often memorial trees can be planted to mark the grave.
History of James Giles & Sons Limited
Established in 1916 by James Giles the company was thriving when James unfortunately died in 1931 at the very early age of 48, leaving his young son Fred, aged 23, to carry on the business. He was later joined by his younger brothers Bert and Les. Fred’s Son, James, and Bert’s son, Raymond, carried on the family tradition following the deaths of their respective Fathers.
Today, following the retirement of James Fredrick, Raymond has been joined by members of the fourth & fifth generations, James Robert, Adrian, Neil, Mark and Kerri and together they continue to uphold the fine tradition of care, respect and understanding that have become the hallmark of their well established service.
